The introductory session of the 38th edition of the Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda”, a training seminar on the interpretation of Rossini’s operas directed by Superintendent Ernesto Palacio, will take place on Monday 6 July at 11 a.m. at the Teatro Sperimentale in Pesaro. The Academy will run until 20 July. Alongside the vocal interpretation classes led by Ernesto Palacio, with musical coordination by Rubén Sánchez-Vieco and vocal coaching by Luca Canonici, this year’s program features contributions from stage director Davide Livermore, costume designer and stage director Gianluca Falaschi, and musicologists Federico Agostinelli, Marco Beghelli and Andrea Malnati (in collaboration with the Fondazione Rossini), as well as physiatrist Frank Musarra and phoniatrician Franco Fussi.

Two masterclasses will also be led by internationally renowned artists Vasilisa Berzhanskaya and Maxim Mironov. As in previous years, the selection process attracted hundreds of applications from young singers across the globe. The selected artists are: sopranos Madina Abildina (Kazakhstan), Hana Ilčić (Croatia), Aziza Omarova (Kazakhstan), Marina Saviano (Italy), Kanako Tominaga (Japan) and Momoko Toyama (Japan); mezzo-sopranos Martina Myskohlid (Canada) and Hope Nelson (United States); tenors Enrico Basso (Italy), Jiahui Mo (China), Dongjae Son (South Korea) and Yukang Zheng (China); baritones Taiyo Abe (Japan), Edoardo Di Cecco (Italy), Kairui Davor Nekjak (Croatia), Keisuke Onoda (Japan) and Yurii Strakhov (Ukraine); and basses Kairui Liu (China), William Meinert (United States) and Davide Sodini (Italy).

The Academy will conclude with the traditional Final Concert on Monday 20 July at 8 p.m. at the Teatro Rossini, where participants, accompanied at the piano by Rubén Sánchez-Vieco, will perform highlights from Rossini’s operatic repertoire.
